Reinterpretation as Resistance
Start Date: 10/2/2018 All Day
End Date: 11/2/2018

Event Description:
Art can be a powerful tool for advocacy particularly in times of increasing unrest. In advance of the 2018 United States midterm elections, the Natalie and James Thompson Art Gallery will present 'Reinterpretation as Resistance: Artists Questioning Normative Iconography,' featuring the work of Libby Black, Ken Botto, Maggy Rozycki Hiltner, Alexander Kosolapov, Liliana Porter, Josh Reames, Dread Scott, John Sims, and Victor Yañez-Lazcano. These artists question the social values, attitudes, and beliefs embedded in American society to expose deeply seated cultural myths and prejudices.
