Alla Efimova: Contemporary Art and its Afterlife
Start Date: 10/9/2018Start Time: 5:00 PM
End Date: 10/9/2018End Time: 6:00 PM

Event Description:
The contemporary art market created international art stars and millionaires whose legacies and place in the art historical canon are assured, but what is our ethical responsibility to advance the legacies of important yet undervalued artists–feminists, AIDS activists, artists of color?

Alla Efimova, PhD, is the Founder and Principal of KunstWorks, and has been a strong advocate for artists’ rights and strategic legacy planning. Her presentation will focus on the recent discourse in Art History and Museum Studies, and what it means to preserve an inclusive national artistic heritage. Efimova will also elaborate on the works of Bay Area artists Ed Aulerich-Sugai and Sonya Rapoport.

This acclaimed weekly lecture series brings in artists, designers, and critical theorists from around the world. All lecture presentations take place 5-6pm in the SJSU Art Lecture Hall (Room 133), unless otherwise indicated. Free and open to the public!
