Event Description The César E. Chavez Community Action Center presents Poverty Under the Stars, an outdoor overnight event that puts students in the shoes of the impoverished and the homeless by sleeping out in tents, listening to speakers and have community discussions concerning the current economic recession. The event takes place at the Tommie Smith and John Carlos sculpture garden. Students can sign up for a space to bring their own tent to sleep in or to set up a tent to promote a cause. Students must sign up by Monday, November 9th by contacting either Sandra Huerta ’11 at sandrahuerta2009@sbcglobal.net or Dr. Scott Myers-Lipton at smlipton@sjsu.edu. |
