Dr. Alisa Freedman,
“Emoji Essentials: Illustrating Cultural Literacy and Japan”

Unicode emoji, originating in Japan and expanded through worldwide usage, is a means to assess how the globalization of Japanese popular culture promotes cultural literacy and awareness of multiculturalism.

The sixth annual Fukuda Lecture is free and open to the public. Event is followed by a catered reception
