Dee Hibbert-Jones: Art, Film, & the Public

Event Description:
Academy Award nominated, Emmy award winning, Guggenheim Fellow, filmmaker, and artist Dee Hibbert-Jones will discuss her creative work in installation, public art, and documentary film examining power and politics: how people manage and who gets heard. Her work explores diverse subjects from land use and wasted resources, to criminal justice and indigent rights: examining what is considered valuable and who is dismissed as valueless. Hibbert-Jones will show examples of her current work and discuss its relevance in relation t notions of the public, public art, and the politics of public space. Hibbert-Jones is a professor of Art, digital art, film, and new media at UC Santa Cruz.

TUESDAY NIGHT LECTURE SERIES | An acclaimed weekly lecture series brings in artists, designers, and critical theorists from around the world, broadening the students’ experiential base and complementing local offerings. All lectures and exhibitions are open to the general public free of charge. Unless otherwise indicated, all presentations will be held in the Art Building, Room #133, from 5-6pm.
