End Date: 3/19/2019End Time: 6:00 PM

Event Description:
Exploring appropriation in the arts and the ongoing discussion of cultural appropriation in popular culture, Whitehead will look back at works produced in the past ten years that have shaped his current practice. More specifically, he will examine the eponymous music video by the Brazilian funkeira Anitta and the Open Casket painting by Dana Schutz, as he considers issues of authority/ownership/social commentary in creative production.

TUESDAY NIGHT LECTURE SERIES | An acclaimed weekly lecture series brings in artists, designers, and critical theorists from around the world, broadening the students’ experiential base and complementing local offerings. All lectures and exhibitions are open to the general public free of charge. Unless otherwise indicated, all presentations will be held in the Art Building, Room #133, from 5-6pm.
