The Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies Program presents The Carol Mukhopadhyay Feminist Lecture Series:

Dr. Huma Ahmed-Ghosh "Globalization and Muslim Women's Lives in Asia: Contesting Islamic Feminisms.”

Huma Ahmed-Ghosh is Professor in the Department of Women's Studies at San Diego State University. She received her Ph.D. in 1990 in Cultural Anthropology from Syracuse University. She serves on the Advisory Boards of the Centre for Islamic and Arabic Studies; Center for Asian Studies; and International Security and Conflict Resolution Institute at SDSU; and on the Boards of the San Diego Women’s Museum and a refugee organization, License to Freedom. Ahmed-Ghosh has published extensively on women in Afghanistan, Muslim women in India and in the US diaspora, and gendered violence and conflict with a focus on Afghanistan.
