Event Description:
This workshop will examine the traditional power dynamics that exist between adults and children. We will analyze whether or not children are an oppressed group of people, how the power inequity in some households socializes a child to believe oppression and domination of others is acceptable. We will examine the four ways in which children respond to their oppression and how these responses affect them as they enter into and navigate through their adult lives. This content may be triggering, and as such, a counselor from SJSU Counseling & Psychological Services will be present to assist any individual with need. This workshop will encourage participants to question the internalized societal view of a marginalized group of people (children) as subordinates.
