St. Christopher's School recycle project exhibit (King Library)
Start Date: 5/7/2017 All Day
End Date: 5/27/2017

Event Description:
The goal of the annual recycle project is to use mostly recycled materials to create art, not craft, following the work of an artist.
This year, we chose to do a group/grade project, versus individual works. We were inspired by the work of an Eco Trash Couture artist from Oregon, Nancy Judd. Public artist and environmental advocate Nancy Judd creates couture fashion sculptures made from trash. Nancy uses her elegant sculptures to stimulate conversation, action and education about sustainable living. She is internationally known for many of her accomplishments.
The students' objective was to save a waste product, Capri Sun pouches, and create a super hero sculpture re-using the nearly 500 pouches collected. They divided into teams and conquered this challenge in 1 only hour! Together, they created amazing art sculptures! The 5th grade girls worked together to create the Wonder Woman sculpture. The 5th grade boys worked together to create the Superman sculpture. We had 2 pouches remaining.
We also asked to students to write one thing they could do to help our earth. You will see their "help the earth statements" displayed on the circular scrap of fence.
