“Civilizing the Savages”: Western Imperialism and How it Affected the Philippines

Event Description:
On November 21, 1899, President McKinley reportedly told a delegation of Methodist church leaders that God had counseled him to take the Philippines in order to “educate the Filipinos, and uplift and civilize and Christianize them.”

Come and learn how the United States pushed these orders on them and how the Pilipinos reacted to it.
