Event Description:
The SJSU Department of Political Science is very proud to announce that this year’s Don Edwards Lecture will feature the Chief Justice of the State of California, the Honorable Tani G. Cantil-Sakauye.

Chief Justice Cantil-Sakauye is a California native, born and raised in Sacramento, and earned both her B.A. and a J.D. from University of California Davis. After working in the Sacramento County District Attorney’s office, she joined the administration of Gov. George Deukmejian, who appointed her to the Sacramento Municipal Court two years later. In 1997, she was appointed to the Superior Court of Sacramento County by Gov. Pete Wilson, where she served for eight years until Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger appointed her to the California Court of Appeal, Third Appellate District. Gov. Schwarzenegger then nominated her as Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of California in 2010, and she was confirmed and approved by the voters that same year. Chief Justice Cantil-Sakauye will make brief remarks and then engage in a moderated conversation in which she will answer questions from the audience.

This year’s Edwards Lecture will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 28 in the new Student Union Theater on the SJSU campus. The event is free, open to the public, and accessible to the disabled. We hope you will join us!
