Dwight Bentel Hall (DBH) is home to several schools, departments, and programs of the College of Humanities and the Arts including the School of Journalism and Mass Communications.

Dwight Essler Bentel (1909-2012) was a journalist, professor, and founder of the Spartan Daily in 1934. Spartan Daily is SJSU's student publication, whose writers routinely are recognized and awarded by the Associated Collegiate Press, California News Publishers Association, and the California College Media Association. School of Journalism and Mass Communications alumni are found in newsrooms and television news programs across the region, state, and country.
