Have you ever experienced the feeling of not feeling Asian enough? Not feeling American enough? Maybe even checking the “Other” box on a form because the choices don’t match how you identify? You aren’t alone! These are shared experiences that multiracial, multiethnic, and mixed heritage folks feel when confronted with their identities. Let’s take some time to learn about the history of multiracial identity, unpack our experiences, and affirm ourselves in our many identities!
