View map Free EventAs part of Legacy of Poetry Month, the Center for Literary Arts is pleased to present Leila Mottley, bestselling author and former Youth Poet Laureate of Oakland, CA. Mottley will read from her latest books, Nightcrawling and Poems for Reckoning Day on Thursday, February 15, 2023 at Hammer Theatre at 7PM.
Leila Mottley is the author of the novel Nightcrawling, an Oprah’s Book Club Pick and New York Times best seller. She is also the 2018 Oakland Youth Poet Laureate. She was born and raised in Oakland, where she continues to live.
This event is made possible thanks to the support of the Lewandowski Family Poet Lecture. In honor of Frank and Dr. Mary Lou Lewandowski, the CLA celebrates poets whose work inspires and influences the next generation of poets.
