You're cordially invited to attend the Poets and Writers sponsored Open-Mic Poetry and Performance event in the A.S. Campus Community Garden (372 E. San Salvador), 4:00 - 6:00 PM. The event is called "Feeding Our Hunger: Poets Respond to Food Insecurity/Sharing Our Culture(s). Come mingle with local artists and express response to the food insecurities that roughly 29% of students face

Emcee Mighty Mike McGee will introduce MFA poets Addie Mahmassani and Felipe De La Rosa, and Brandon Luu, San Jose Cultural Ambassador; plus music by Addie M. and Tyler Eveland. 

You can sign up for open mic using this link or the QR code on the graphic to read at the event on a first-come first-served basis. Bring a poem, prose-poem, or performance piece that addresses issues of hunger and/or celebrates your food culture(s). Or just come to soak in the sun, enjoy the readings and performances, snacks by WHISK, and the ambiance of the A.S. Campus Community Garden during this time of beautiful Northern California harvest-time.

This event is presented by the Poets and Writers Coalition and the Cesar Chavez Community Action Center and made possible with an Artistic Excellence Programing Grant from the College of Humanities and the Arts.
