2023 GIS Day

Overview:

To celebrate National GIS Day at SJSU, we are hosting a series of exciting events including a specialized housing and GIS panel, and a student poster competition. We welcome students from SJSU and Bay Area colleges to submit posters on topics related to GIS, urban planning, geography, UAV/Drones, wildfire, public policy, computer vision, civil engineering, and computer engineering. Refreshments will be provided, and we have several awards to give out!  (RSVP)

Poster Submission Deadline: November 12th, 2023 (Submission Link)

Poster Competition Awards:

• 1st Place: $300
• 2nd Place: $200
• 3rd Places: $100 
• Public Selection Awards: $100 each (three awards)

Agenda:

• 3:00 PM - 3:10 PM: Opening and Welcome
• 3:15 PM - 3:55 PM: Keynote Panel: “Navigating Housing with Geospatial Tools” (40 min)
• 4:00 PM - 4:20 PM: Exhibit and Demo: Drone, GPS, and AR Sandbox (20 min)
  • Interactive project presentations and explanatory videos will be available.
• 4:20 PM - 4:50 PM: Poster Viewing and Public Voting (30 min)
  • Attendees can interact with Drone & AR Sandbox exhibits, vote for their favorite posters, and enjoy refreshments.
• 4:50 PM - 5:00 PM: Announcement of Poster Competition Awards
• 5:00 PM - 5:40 PM: Winner Presentations
  • 1st Place: 10 min
  • 2nd Place: 10 min
  • Two 3rd Places: 10 min each
• 5:40 PM - 5:45 PM: Announcement of Public Selection Awards
• 5:45 PM - 6:00 PM: Closing Remarks and Socializing
