I Needed Paris follows nine young photographers from Gordon Parks Academy in Wichita as they travel to Paris, exploring the scenes and neighborhoods where Gordon Parks worked from 1950-1952 as a photographer for LIFE magazine. The film explores the impact of Parks' time in Paris on his own trajectory as a filmmaker, poet, photographer, and composer, while documenting the horizon-expanding journey of the students who followed in his footsteps.
