About this Event
Add to calendarDirector of the Africana, Asian American, Chicano and Native American Studies Center Kathryn Blackmer Reyes, SJPL California Room Archivist Shane Curtin and SJPL California Room Staff Estella Inda will discuss the creation, planning, and hosting of the lowrider exhibit “Story & King: San José’s Lowrider Culture.”
The planning for this exhibit was a collaborative effort of the public library, academic library, and the San José lowrider community. The 3 month long exhibit hosted a variety of historical items important to the foundation of lowrider culture and featured several community panels. San José has a historical importance in lowrider history as it was where Lowrider Magazine was founded and published for many years. Q&A to follow presentation.
