Marcos was born and raised in San Jose and currently teaches dance in San Diego at UCSD and San Diego City College. Risa hails from New York City where her dance company Risa Jarolow and Dancers was based for many years. She transitioned to the east bay in 2013 and continues to make work in the Bay Area. Both choreographers exhibit a deep committment to social justice in their choreographic process.
No experience necessary - just a willingness to listen and an eagerness to engage.
We welcome everyone: students, faculty, community members, and artists who work in real-time: musicians, poets, dancers, actors, singers. Come on over to play and create together or simply observe.
NEX2Now is a series of four interdisciplinary free-improvisation events, facilitated by DANC144A. This is the third of three workshops taught by multiple guest artists culminating in a Performance Practice on November 14th.
