The San José State University 2026 MFA cohort is hosting a public symposium, Practices of Belonging: South Bay Arts Ecosystems & Creative Economies, at the Wendel Education Center, San José Museum of Artand we would love to see you there!

This FREE day-long event is a fantastic opportunity for Art, Art History, and Design majors to gain practical insights into sustaining a creative career in the Bay Area. You’ll hear from a diverse range of professionals—including practicing artists, curators from Anno Domini Gallery and Root Division, and educators from SJSU and Stanford—sharing strategies for navigating the art world.

The day will feature panel discussions on studio practice, teaching, public art, and collecting institutions, concluding with "lightning presentations" by our own SJSU MFA candidates. It’s a great chance to network and see the research being conducted by the current cohort.

Register here to attend. Walk-ins are welcome, but advance registration is recommended.

We can't wait to see you there for a wonderful day of community building and professional growth!

Be sure to stop by the Career Center table, where we're happy to chat and share resources to support your creative journey in the Bay Area!
