R&R, 2026: Recovering Ricardo Favela’s Royal Chicano Air Force Poster Collection at San José State University exhibition includes original artwork (serigraphs, called "silkscreen posters,") by the vanguard Chicano/a art collective, the Royal Chicano Air Force [RCAF]. Founded in the early 1970s, the RCAF was a principal image maker of the Chicano movement and continued making art into the twenty-first century. The RCAF art collection at King Library consists of 192 posters, of which approximately 35 will be on display. In addition to these artworks, Special Collections will host a range of vibrant objects and records of this creative and cultural force alongside artifacts from the 1970s to twenty-first century that are part of the SJSU collections.
