Lilla LoCurto and Bill Outcault have been collaborating since 1991. Their practice focuses on human physical and psychological frailty, as well as humanity's relationship to an increasingly technological world. As artists working in the 21st century, these themes represent some of the most compelling and effective tools available to them. In addition, their work in advanced technologies has necessitated collaborations with individuals from various fields, which has become an integral aspect of their practice.

In 2013, they were awarded a Guggenheim Fellowship. Their most recent exhibition, Much Madness is Divinest Sense, was shown at the Neuberger Museum of Art in Purchase, NY, accompanied by a catalogue. They were also invited to exhibit an installation titled the willful marionette at the Smithsonian American Art Museum in Washington, D.C., where the work was acquired in 2020, shortly after the pandemic. The quiet of those two years allowed them the opportunity to publish a research paper on their work concerning AI, which was presented at the International Conference on Computational Creativity at the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana in Cualimalpa, Mexico City.

In 2022, they participated in a group show titled Connect Me at the Trapholt Museum in Kolding, Denmark. Recent public collections holding their work include the Smithsonian American Art Museum, the Neuberger Museum of Art, and the Samuel Dorsky Museum of Art.
