The SJSU Concert Choir and Choraliers, under the direction of Dr. Jeffrey Benson, and the SJSU Wind Ensemble, led by Dr. David Vickerman, unite for an evening of profound storytelling through music. The concert features the world premiere of Alec Schantz’s The Curse, The Crown, The Crimson Sky, a compelling new work commissioned as part of the Sing Me a Story organization and sung by Director of SJSU Opera Theater, Dr. Luis Orozco. The program also highlights the deeply moving works of Jake Runestad, including The Peace of Wild Things, Let My Love Be Heard, and A Silence Haunts Me, each exploring themes of solace, hope, and loss. The evening culminates with the highly anticipated world premiere of Runestad’s Vincent’s Sky, a breathtaking fusion of Van Gogh’s vivid reflections and Whitman’s transcendent poetry, offering audiences an unforgettable journey into art, humanity, and the expressive power of music.
