Silicon Valley African Film Festival's Closing Ceremony and Awards Night is the culminating event of the 16th annual film festival - a 3-day celebration of African and diaspora films, music, fashion, food, arts and craft exhibitions, etc. This is a colorful, red carpet event to honor visiting filmmakers from over twenty countries, as well as international and local cultural icons who have made significant contributions to the African and diaspora community and cinema ecosystem.
Now in its 16th season, the Silicon Valley African Film Festival (SVAFF) is a highly respected destination event that draws an avid international following of distinguished transcontinental visitors, entrepreneurs, tech executives, cinema buffs, academics, civic officials and community supporters. This year, the festival will present 92 films by seasoned and emerging filmmakers from 30 countries. From gripping dramas to heartwarming documentaries, these films are a testament to the incredible talent that resides within the African continent and its diaspora. Scheduled from October 9-12 at the Historic Hoover Theatre in San Jose, highlights include a Red Carpet/VIP reception, resplendent opening ceremony with a flag parade featuring flags of the countries in the festival, live performances, post-screening dialogues, African market, fashion show, awards, visit to Silicon Valley companies, etc.
