On February 18, 2026 we’ll roll up our sleeves and help save lives! SJSU’s University Police Department and the SJSU Student Wellness Center have proudly partnered with the American Red Cross to hold our first Sickle Cell Blood Drive. 

In honor of Black History Month, your support in reaching the people of African Heritage to donate is impactful. 1 in 3 African American blood donors are a match for people with sickle cell disease! This is a great way to pay it forward and make an impact on people in our community and across the country. 

While this drive highlights the critical need for blood donations that support people with sickle cell disease, donors of all backgrounds and blood types are encouraged and welcome to participate. Each pint of blood we collect can help save up to three lives and will touch the lives of so many more. We are very excited about the drive and we hope you are too. 

The Red Cross will give each Donor a $20 gift card for donating blood, and because we’ve dedicated this drive to support our Sickle Cell Warriors, an additional $20 Amazon gift card will be given to each donor as well. 

We encourage scheduling an appointment in advance, though drop-ins will be accommodated as space allows.
