This event invites attendees to play board games that explore climate solutions. Hosted by members of SJSU's environmental humanities board game group, attendees can learn to play alongside experienced students who serve as mentors and/or partners in game play. Games on offer include Can You Solve the California Water Crisis and Day Break. Players of California Water Crisis take on the role of Northern California, the Central Valley, or Southern California as they try to swap public opinion in their favor. Will you work collaboratively to solve the water crisis, or will you compete for scarce resources as you try to lead your region to victory. Day Break invites players to tackle climate change by playing collaboratively as Europe, China, the US, or the Global Majority. Attendees can choose to play on easy or challenging mode as they attempt to work collaboratively to draw down the world's carbon emissions before world-changing threshold events throw global weather out of whack. No gaming experience is required. This event is a part of SJSU's Earth Day offerings, and is sponsored by SJSU's emerging the Environmental Humanities program, and by an Artistic Excellence in Programming Grant from the College of Humanities and Arts.
