Type: Special Event
Hosted by: SJSU Writing Center and the Translate San José Project
Duration: 75 minutes

Every voice has a place in the story of San José. We invite you to an interactive poetry writing workshop hosted by the SJSU Writing Center and the Translate San José Project, an H&A initiative celebrating the cultures and experiences that shape San José. This workshop is open to everyone.

Discover the power of your own story. Join us for a guided workshop where we’ll explore the "Where I’m From" poetic form to document the rich, diverse histories of the South Bay. From the objects and languages of your youth to the sights and sounds of your current streets, learn how to transform your memories into a personal poetic narrative. This workshop will include time to brainstorm, create, and share your poem. Use this poem as a chance to reflect on your own personal journey and consider sharing this with your family and friends.

This workshop is part of the Translate San José project, which is an educational project bringing together SJSU students, faculty, and community members to re-imagine the city through revealing its multilingual and multicultural landscape. The project is sponsored by the College of Humanities and the Arts Artistic Excellence Programming Grant.
