Spartan Complex - Central (SPX) houses several departments of the College of Health and Human Sciences and the College of Humanities and the Arts. Spartan Complex, renovated in 2015, features an updated gymnasium, auditorium, dance studios, kinesiology laboratories, an indoor aquatic center and locker and shower facilities open to students and employees. This building houses San José State's Department of Kinesiology - the first and oldest physical activity higher education program in the west.
